Community Cleanup

2024 Community Cleanup

As part of the EcoVision 2025 Strategy, the municipalities of Shediac and Cap-Acadie are committed to a clean environment. Every year, they organize a community cleanup event to pick up litter along the coast, in trails, municipal parks and roads.

On Saturday, May 4, residents are invited to take part in the community cleanup at a location of their choice. In case of rain, the event will be held on May 11.

Participants can send their photos of the activity to their municipality’s e-mail address, and they will be published on the Facebook page. Photos can also be shared directly on social media with the hashtag #NettoyageEcovisionCleanup2024.

EcoVision2025  Community Cleanup Event

Litter in the environment is a problem, especially for our coastal communities. If not picked up, some of it will eventually end up in the ocean. As part of the EcoVision2025 strategy, an annual community cleanup event was implemented to reduce the impact of waste that accumulates in the environment.

Prior to this initiative, each municipality already held separate cleanup events. In October 2019, an annual joint cleanup event was proposed under the EcoVision2025 banner. By combining their efforts, the municipalities are more committed than ever to ensuring a clean environment throughout the region.

The first EcoVision2025 Community Cleanup was held in the spring of 2020. While following the COVID-19 sanitation guidelines, residents were able to collect a good amount of litter near their homes.
